Sara Ellen Gilstrap has been a professional hairstylist for more than 18 years. Growing up admiring other hair stylists and the art form accompanying the profession, she attended the Aveda Institute Chapel Hill in 2006. After graduation, she completed her apprenticeship and began working at Modern Salon and Spa in Charlotte, NC.

While building her clientele behind the chair, Sara Ellen attended many advanced education courses to deepen her knowledge in haircutting, hair styling, hair color systems, and business management. Her passion and expertise have led her to join many education teams and teach these skills to new and upcoming stylists. Sara Ellen has continued to see her clients privately, letting her entrepreneurial spirit shine.

She specializes in short and long haircuts, blonding techniques, and grey coverage. Sara Ellen is excited to join the Common Thread Collective and will continue to exceed industry standards. She views her work as a true form of art and looks forward to building strong relationships with each of her clients.
